Choosing Standard or Deluxe Flag Arrangements

If you are replacing the hardware that connects a flag to an internal-halyard cable system, start with the flag size and the parts you need. A standard flag arrangement supplies the cable section and quick links. A deluxe arrangement adds flag snaps, with additional components on larger sizes.

The useful question is whether you need only the arrangement or a set that also replaces the flag-attachment hardware. Here is how to compare the two before ordering.

What a flag arrangement does

A flag arrangement connects the flag to the main cable assembly. It is a separate component, which allows the flag attachment to be changed without necessarily replacing the entire cable assembly.

The standard and deluxe arrangements in this product family both use 1/8-inch stainless steel aircraft cable. Each end has a stainless steel thimble secured with two copper crimps. The difference to compare is the included hardware, not an assumed upgrade in cable diameter.

If you need to replace the main lifting cable, review cable assemblies instead of treating a flag arrangement as a complete replacement for the system.

What comes with standard and deluxe arrangements

Standard arrangements include the cable section and either two or three stainless steel quick links, depending on the specified flag size. They are worth considering when you are replacing that component and already have the other compatible, serviceable hardware required for your installation.

Deluxe arrangements include the cable section, quick links and flag snaps. In this product family, deluxe arrangements for flags measuring 8 by 12 feet or larger also include a shock spring and safety cable. Do not assume every deluxe size has the same parts or quantities.

Compare the itemized contents with your existing setup and the flagpole manufacturer's instructions. Neither the word “standard” nor “deluxe” establishes compatibility with every internal-halyard pole.

A same-size comparison for a 4 by 6 foot flag

Comparing two products for the same flag size makes the distinction clear:

For this pair, the added snaps are the practical difference in the listed contents. If your snaps also need replacement, include them in your comparison rather than comparing the arrangement prices alone. If you plan to reuse hardware, confirm its condition and suitability first.

Match the flag size and the existing system

Read “for flag size” carefully. A listing for a 4 by 6 foot flag identifies the intended flag dimensions, not a six-foot-long cable arrangement. Record the full part number as well as the size so that you can distinguish the standard and deluxe options.

A size option in a hardware listing is not permission to fly a larger flag on your pole. Before changing flag size or adding another flag, confirm the configuration allowed by the pole manufacturer. The arrangement is only one part of the installation.

A short checklist before ordering

  1. Identify the system. Record the flagpole manufacturer and model, if known, and confirm the type of internal-halyard mechanism.
  2. Record the flag dimensions. Note the current size and any proposed change.
  3. Identify what needs replacing. Distinguish the flag arrangement from the main cable assembly and other hardware.
  4. Compare the exact contents. Check the part number, quick links, snaps and any spring or safety cable listed for that size.
  5. Resolve uncertainty before purchase. Keep photos of the existing arrangement and any part markings available when asking about fit.

Browse FORTISVEX flag arrangements by the flag size you need. If the existing parts are difficult to identify, contact FORTISVEX with the pole information, flag dimensions and photos before ordering. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation and operation.
