North Carolina Half-Staff Notice: October 29–November 2, 2026
FORTISVEX • Official notice issued October 28, 2026 • Source checked November 2, 2026
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein has directed U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to fly at half-staff in remembrance of Dolores Huerta. The Department of Administration published the notice on October 28.
Current — November 2 update: The announced half-staff period ends at local sunset today. This is an existing October 28 directive, not a newly issued order.
Dates and scope
The period began at sunrise Thursday, October 29, and ends at sunset Monday, November 2. These are local North Carolina sunrise and sunset boundaries, not a fixed statewide clock time. The period crosses the daylight-saving transition; do not substitute a single UTC offset for both dates.
The directive covers state facilities. Individuals, businesses, schools and local governments are encouraged to participate. It is not a nationwide presidential order.
Before changing your display
Read the official notice for your facility’s applicability and check the state’s current flag alerts for any amendment before restoring full staff.
