Utah State Flags

Honor Utah's heritage with a flag chosen for the occasion, from a present-day state display to a historical collection. Utah became the 45th state on January 4, 1896. When shopping, distinguish today's Beehive Flag from the earlier seal-based design, which retains a separate historic designation.

Utah's Current Beehive Flag and Historic Flag

The Beehive Flag became Utah's official state flag on March 9, 2024, following legislation approved in 2023. Its blue, white and red design includes a mountain-shaped white band and a gold-outlined hexagon containing a beehive and white star. The beehive continues Utah's association with industry and cooperative effort.

The earlier blue flag with the state seal is Utah's historic state flag. It remains part of the state's heritage; it should not be confused with the Beehive Flag that became official in 2024. The Utah State Library's flag guide explains the two designs.

Compare Utah Flag Sizes and Mounting Styles

Explore the FORTISVEX nylon listings in this category. Compare the exact item rather than assuming that a brand name, size or older photograph identifies the design you will receive. The FORTISVEX 3x5-foot listing specifies brass grommets. Larger listings may use rope and thimbles instead.

Check the nominal dimensions, attachment finish and the flag size permitted by your pole and hardware manufacturer. Confirm the actual design and availability before ordering, especially when a photograph and written description appear to differ.

Utah Flag Questions

Why do I see both 2023 and 2024 associated with the new flag?

The legislation was approved in 2023; the new state flag became official on March 9, 2024. Those dates describe different steps in the change.

Can I choose the older Utah design for a historical display?

The seal-based design is officially recognized as Utah's historic state flag. Specify that version and confirm the exact item's artwork and availability rather than assuming every Utah flag listing depicts it.

Does the same attachment work for every Utah flag size?

Not necessarily. A grommeted flag and a rope-and-thimble flag have different attachment finishes. Match the selected listing to compatible hardware and its manufacturer's wind-load limits.
