Nevada State Flags
History of the Nevada State Flag
The current flag of Nevada was adopted on March 26, 1929. It consists of a cobalt blue field with a silver star in the upper left hand corner. The star is surrounded by the words "Nevada" and "Battle Born," as Nevada became a state during the American Civil War. The flag also includes two sprays of sagebrush, the state flower of Nevada, on either side of the star. The blue color represents the clear blue skies of Nevada, while the silver star represents the state's mineral wealth. The sagebrush represents the natural resources and flora of the state.
