History of the Oklahoma State Flag

The current flag of Oklahoma was officially adopted by the state in 1925. It features a field of sky blue with a circular white disc in the center, which bears a red cross with a single white star in each quadrant. The flag is based on a design by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and was chosen by the Oklahoma State Flag Commission in 1924. The design is intended to represent the state's Native American heritage, as well as its history as part of the United States. Prior to the adoption of this flag, Oklahoma had used a variety of different flags, including a flag with a blue field and a white star, which was used from 1911 to 1924.
